Bret Steele

Bret is the Founder and President of Chesapeake Chaos. Married to his wife Sheryl, they have 2 sons, Patrick and Nathan. He works as a Senior Lead Infrastructure Engineer.

Coaching baseball has been a long time passion for Bret. At age 13 he began to assist his father in coaching his younger brother's youth baseball teams, keeping score and trying to coach pitching when he could. Years later the favor was returned as his father, Robert, joined him as an assistant coach when Bret's oldest son, Patrick, began to play. 

Volunteering as a rec ball coach and manager since Spring of 2020 Bret has coached and managed ages 5 through 10, including multiple championship and allstar teams. All of this experience led to a realization that we need something a little more than rec ball, but not quite travel ball for these young ages. 

Starting Chesapeake Chaos and starting our Chaos Clinics in Fall of 2025 was an integral part of the development of our players and served as a proving ground for coaching philosophies used over these seasons. We proved that player development is key at these young ages. Players need repetition over competition. Due to this, the players from our teams are consistently better at the end of the season than they were at the beginning of the season, and that growth and development is key to our success.

A USA Baseball Certified Coach, Bret serves as a coach for our Chaos Clinics and is the Manger of our 9u Development Team.
