Bret Steele

Bret is the Founder and President of Chesapeake Chaos. Married to his wife Sheryl, they have 2 sons, Patrick and Nathan. He works as a Senior Lead Infrastructure Engineer.

Coaching baseball has been a long time passion for Bret. At age 13 he began to assist his father in coaching his younger brother's youth baseball teams, keeping score and trying to coach pitching when he could. Years later the favor was returned as his father, Robert, joined him as an assistant coach when Bret's oldest son, Patrick, began to play. 

One Pinto championship as an assistant coach then led to 4 seasons managing in Mustang before Patrick retired from playing at the ripe old age of 10. This opened the door for Bret to start as an assistant coach for his youngest son's, Nathan, Shetland team. 2 seasons as an assistant coach in Shetland plus assistant coach for 6u allstars led to 2 seasons as a Shetland manager and managing the Shetland 6u allstar team with Robert and Patrick assisting along the way.

With Nathan moving up to Pinto in the Fall of 2024, Bret continued to volunteer. As the Reds manager for 4 seasons there was great success.  Season one started 2-2 and then the Reds won their next 13 games, before dropping one, then winning their last 32 Pinto games to go 47-3 overall with back-to-back spring season championships along the way.  Bret also served as the team manager for the Pinto 7u allstar team followed by managing the Pinto 8u allstar team the following year.

All of that success on the field is great, everyone loves to win, but it was possible because of Bret's belief - and the belief of Chesapeake Chaos - that player development is key at these young ages. The players from these teams were consistently better at the end of the season than they were at the beginning of the season, and that growth and development is key. Starting the Chesapeake Chaos and the Chaos Clinics in Fall of 2025 was an integral part of the development of the players and served as a proving ground for coaching philosophies used over these seasons.

A USA Baseball Certified Coach, Bret serves as a coach for our Chaos Clinics and is the Manger of our 9u Development Team.
